My passion for hair extensions
Over the years I have become addicted to hair extensions!
I custom color, cut and place natural-looking hair extensions, adding volume, length and thickness so my clients can experience the long, beautiful hair they’ve always dreamed of.
I am passionate about creating the best experience possible for my clients. Because of this, I want to make sure you are a great candidate for extensions so you will have beautiful, natural-looking extensions. Then, I guarantee you’ll be hooked on my Natural Beaded Row™ hair extensions like the rest of my clients!
I currently get the opportunity to rock my hair extension talents for some of today’s top TV reality stars, as well as hundreds of other amazing women who are committed to living with natural, beautiful, manageable, long hair.
I am often asked the question, “How did you get into the hair industry? Specifically, how did you get into doing hair extensions?” Well, to start, I attended The Paul Mitchell School of Hair in Provo, UT. However, my first real experience with hair extensions occurred almost one year before the thought of attending hair school crossed my mind.
My own hair extension nightmare
Like a lot of girls with thin, short hair, I dreamed of the day that my hair would grow out to be thick, long and beautiful… but, it just never seemed to happen. Then, I found out about hair extensions. At that point I didn’t know how much they cost, nor what it would take to get them, but I was committed. I decided that no matter the cost, I was going to get them.
My hair was 4 inches long at the time I was taken over by this vision of me having long, flowing hair.
I didn’t even know where to find a hair extensions specialist so I started asking around until I was referred to a woman with whom I scheduled a face-to-face consultation. When she saw me in person she told me that my hair was a perfect length for hair extensions. She also told me the length I was wanting – roughly just past my shoulders – would look natural and fantastic on my 4-inch-long hair. She also told me that “glue-in singles” were definitely the way to go and that I would be best-off to purchase synthetic hair.
Now remember, I was desperate and desirous, which was the perfect combination of delusion that led me to agree with every suggestion she made. All I cared to hear was, “your appointment is set for next Wednesday!”
The day I got my first hair extensions was one of the greatest and worst days of my life. After NINE hours of sitting in her chair and $1,200 (that’s right: I did not mis-type that number), I walked out of her salon with a really bad MULLET! To top it off, the color didn’t match either!
Horrified, I thought, “a $1,200 mullet with bad color on top?!! Seriously?!!”
Even though I wanted to throw up every time I saw my mullet extensions in the mirror, I forced myself to keep them in for three months because I had invested so much time, energy and money. Once the end of three-month mark hit, I took the mullet extensions out and never went back to that stylist again.
Sidenote: my hair extension nightmare explains why I’m never afraid to tell potential clients that their hair is too short for hair extensions. It also shows why I insist on using high-quality hair and have crafted the most effective, natural-looking hair extension method, Natural Beaded Rows™. I love to give my clients amazing hair extension experiences every time, very unlike my first – disastrous! – hair extension experience.
The next year, as I started at Paul Mitchell Hair Academy, I reflected upon my hair extension experience the year before and thought, “there has to be a better way.”
Searching For & Creating a Better Way
I got online and researched every method I could find. I decided I wanted to try rows instead of singles on my hair so I went to a new extension specialist (my hair was only about jaw-length at the time). The stylist put in about six rows, using real human hair this time, and it took about four hours, but I thought it looked a lot better than my first set of extensions.
Then, I found a local hair extension specialist who suggested I take their class and buy hair from them. I told them I was interested in learning rows, since I had a better experience with those. So I took a class that taught glue-in singles and rows done with beads.
When I first started doing hair extensions on clients, I did a combination of both methods. It looked great, but still took about 3 to 4 hours in the salon for each client. I found that doing singles along the top and sides helped shorter hair to blend, while adding rows everywhere else gave it the fullness I was looking for in about half the time it took me to do singles on the entire head. So I continued to experiment on my own hair as well as my clients.
Over the years I have tried almost every hair extension method out there. Glue-in, bead-in, tape-in, braid-in… you name it, I’ve tried it! I’ve discovered which hair extension methods are more damaging on your hair and which ones look best over time. I try and be creative and think outside the box so I have also experimented with hair extension placement color and cutting. I have also researched and tried about every type of hair available.
In the end I wanted to find the BEST METHOD with the least amount of damage on hair and least amount of time in the salon. This method couldn’t cost thousands of dollars and it had to be easy to style and maintain.
Thus, my Natural Beaded Rows™ method was born and enhanced further with my unique methods of custom placement color and cutting.
Totally Unique Hair Extensions
My custom, Natural Beaded Rows™ hair extension method is 100% unique, crafted from years of experience and diligent searching to create the absolute best hair extension method on the market.
